Growing up is scary. As a child, you look at life through a telescope, forever aimed at the future. As an adult, you look back with perspective. I haven't experienced enough of life to be old and wise, but I'm aware enough to value the frivolity and thrill there still is in not knowing what the next step is. In this time of unrest, this transition phase, I've found myself reflecting on the past and dreaming about the future. Life is characterized by scars; some stay with you and others fade, but you never know which at the time.

About Me

 Hey there. I'm Rachel Wice.

That's me over there >>>>>>>>>

I'm 21 years old, 5 feet tall, and entering my
senior year at the University of Connecticut. This summer is "The Last Summer," if you will, before I have to cast aside my role as a summer camp counselor who moonlights as a CVS cashier who moonlights as a degenerate college student and try to turn my English degree into a real grown-up job. I'm avoiding it.

But we aren't here to talk about the future.

Are we? Why would we do that? That sounds awful. Can we not? Ok cool.

Who's that girl?

In my spare time, when I'm not busy disappointing my parents or something, I volunteer a lot.

Something about the idea that I make a difference is really empowering to me. Although I'm too tiny to donate, when the numbers come in at the end of a blood drive I helped organize, it's pretty cool to calculate the number of lives those donations helped. If I get to play even a small role in that, I'm happy.

I'm also a member of Pi Beta Phi.
Before you judge--I've made some of the greatest friends and built the strongest support system I've ever had and I will defend it until the end. We actually do a lot of cool stuff with literacy which you should check out because one in four children will grow up illiterate

I love to craft.
Whether it's a canvas, a cooler, a paddle, or a friendship bracelet. I'm there.

Things I Love:

  • 80s movies. Personal favorites: Back to the Future, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, What I Like About You, Money Can't Buy You Love, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, The Goonies, and Sixteen Candles.
  • Peanut Butter Cups.
  • Dancing. I may not have the best moves, I may be an awful dancer, but that's never stopped me from embarrassing myself at weddings and parties.
  • Singing. I was in choir all through high school and still belt out the occasional harmony to the radio and in the shower.

Why We're All Here

My goal in life and my goal with this blog is to display my unique perspective. I'm sarcastic and sassy and cynical at times and, while I haven't experienced much of life to be old and wise, I'm aware enough to value the frivolity and thrill there is in not knowing what the next step is. And that's ok. I just want to cherish these times of unrest, of being unsure, of questioning everything around me and living in the moment, because the future is a scary place.
